Jiangxi Open: Second seed Sramkova through to quarter-finals
The Sloval will face the winner of the match between Hungarian Anna Bondar and Italian Martina Trevisan in the last eight
Slovak Rebecca Sramkova, the second seed, won against Chinese Wei Sijia 7-5, 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals of the Jiangxi Open on Thursday.
The win was sweet revenge for the Slovak, who had lost tot Sijia in the first round in Guangzhou a couple of weeks ago. She has now won 15 of her last 18 matches on the tour since the US Open, which includes her first final in Monastir followed by her first WTA singles title in Thailand.
Sramkova, ranked No 53, will play the winner of the match between Hungarian Anna Bondar and Italian Martina Trevisan next.
The Slovak beat Chinese wildcard Shuai Zhang (6-1, 6-1) ahead of her win today.
In the previous round of the tournament, Wei, ranked No 132, won against Japanese Mai Hontama (6-2, 3-6, 6-1).
