Jiangxi Open: Sawangkaew advances to quarter-finals
Mananchaya Sawangkaew edged out Zheng Saisai 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (6) on Wednesday and will face Laura Siegemund in the next round
Thai qualifier Mananchaya Sawangkaew advanced to the last 8 of the Jiangxi Open by edging out Chinese wildcard Zheng Saisai 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (6) at the Nanchang International Tennis Center on Wednesday.
Sawangkaew, ranked No 147, will face Laura Siegemund next.
The 22-year-old Thai won against Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the No 7 seed (6-4, 4-6, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Jiangxi tournament, Saisai Zheng edged out Croat Jana Fett (6-4, 2-6, 6-4).
