Japanese Nao Hibino reached the second round of the Jiangxi Open by defeating Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the top seed, 7-6 (2), 6-3 at Nanchang International Tennis Center on Tuesday night.
Hibino, ranked No 93, will play Australian Kimberly Birrell next.
