Jiangxi Open: Golubic stuns Bouzkova to reach final

Swiss Viktorija Golubic advanced to the final of the Jiangxi Open by winning against top seed Marie Bouzkova 6-1, 6-2 at the Nanchang International Tennis Center on Saturday.

Golubic, the world No 168, stopped Bouzkova from holding any serves, breaking her eight times in 78 minutes to reach the summit clash.

The Swiss produced impressive numbers on the return, averaging 61 percent and 79 percent on the first and second serve to win every game on her opponent’s serve.

Golubic will play the winner of the match between German Laura Siegemund and Slovak Rebecca Sramkova, the second seed, next.

The Swiss beat Chinese qualifier Xiaodi You (7-5, 6-2), Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, the No 4 seed (6-2 ret.) and Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 6 seed (7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (5)) ahead of her victory.

Earlier in the tournament, Bouzkova, ranked No 49, defeated Filipino Alexandra Eala (7-5, 7-6 (4)), Chinese lucky loser Xinxin Yao (6-3, 6-3) and Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the No 5 seed (6-2, 6-2).
