Canada’s Leylah Fernandez reached the last eight of the Jiangxi Open by winning against Chinese qualifier Xiaodi You 6-4, 6-1 at Nanchang International Tennis Center on Friday.
Fernandez, ranked No 43 in the world and a former US Open runner-up, won the Hong Kong Open last week, will face Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich next.
The left-hander has now won her last seven matches in a row on the tour. In the previous round, the 21-year-old beat Chinese wildcard Hanyu Guo (6-1, 6-3).
You, ranked No 233, won against Russian Anna Blinkova, the No 6 seed (6-1, 6-1) earlier in the week.
