Tsurenko makes light work of Diaz in Jasmin Open quarter-final

Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko, the No 4 seed, won against Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz 6-3, 6-2 to move into the semi-finals of the Jasmin Open at the Skanes Family Hotel Monastir on Friday afternoon.

Tsurenko, ranked No 34, will face top seed Jasmine Paolini next, who faced a much tougher challenge in her quarter-final, defeating compatriot Lucia Bronzetti 7-5, 7-6 (3) earlier in the day.

Earlier in the tournament, the 34-year-old Ukrainian beat French qualifier Chloe Paquet (6-2, 6-3) and American Claire Liu (6-1, 7-5).

Parrizas Diaz, ranked No 135, edged out Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 7 seed (6-2, 0-6, 6-4) and defeated Ukrainian qualifier Katarina Zavatska (4-6, 7-5, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Monastir tournament.
