Sramkova upsets Burel at Jasmin Open

Slovak Rebecca Sramkova advanced to the quarter-finals of the Jasmin Open by defeating Frenchwoman Clara Burel, the second seed, 7-6 (4), 7-5 at the Skanes Family Hotel Monastir on Wednesday evening.

Sramkova, ranked No 136, will face Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo next.

In the previous round of the Monastir tournament, the Slovak won against French qualifier Elsa Jacquemot (2-6, 7-5, 6-3).

Burel, ranked No 58, beat Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera (6-2, 6-2) during the first round of the Monastir tournament.
