Jasmin Open: Lys advances to quarter-finals
Eva Lys edged out Elise Mertens 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) on Thursday evening and will play the winner of the match between qualifier Zeynep Sonmez and Belgian Greet Minnen, the No 6 seed, in the next round

German Eva Lys moved into the quarter-finals of the Jasmin Open by edging out Belgian Elise Mertens, the top seed, 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) at the Skanes Family Hotel Monastir on Thursday evening.
Lys, ranked No 126, will face the winner of the match between qualifier Zeynep Sonmez and Belgian Greet Minnen, the No 6 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Monastir tournament, the 22-year-old German defeated Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (6-3, 7-5).
Mertens, ranked No 32, won against Russian Anastasia Zakharova (6-2, 6-0) during the first round of the Monastir tournament.
