Jabeur wins Sportsmanship and Player Service awards
Jasmine Paolini’s coach, Renzo Furlan, is voted WTA Coach of the Year
Former world No 2 Ons Jabeur, from Tunisia, was named the winner of the Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award and Peachy Kellmeyer Player Service Award as part of the WTA Awards for the 2024 season.
Known as the ‘Minister of Happiness’, Jabeur won both the awards for the second year in a row. The Karen Krantzcke Sportmanship Award given was awarded to the Tunisian for her ‘gracious and considerate manner, support for fair play and respect for others on and off the court’ as per the WTA Tour while the Peachy Kellmeyer Player Service Award was awarded for her support to fellow players, and other initiatives on behalf of the player community. Both awards are voted for by players on the tour.
Meanwhile, Italy’s Renzo Furlan, coach of world No 4 Jasmine Paolini, was named Coach of the Year. Paolini started the 2024 season just inside the world’s top 30 but climbed all the way to the top 5 after reaching the final of the French Open and Wimbledon. This award is voted on by coaches registered with the WTA Tour.
World No 1 Aryna Sabalenka was awarded the Jerry Diamond ACES for ‘her work and dedication to promote women’s tennis to fans, media and local communities by taking part in off-court promotional and charitable activities.’
