Jabeur ends season early due to shoulder injury
The Tunisian said she plans to return at the start of 2025
It’s been a year to forget for Ons Jabeur and now, the Tunisian has decided to cut short her season due to a shoulder injury.
The 30-year-old announced she would not be playing competitively for the rest of 2024, calling time on a season in which she failed to get past the quarter-finals of any event.
A run to the last eight at the French Open proved to be the highlight of her season, while she lost early at the Australian Open and Wimbledon and then, after choosing not to play at the Olympics, had to pull out of the US Open with a shoulder problem.
Jabeur revealed her decision on social media on Monday, saying she had made “the difficult decision to step off the tennis circuit for the rest of the season”.
Jabeur, currently ranked No 22, said she would take the time to rest her body and dedicate herself to charity work, before returning to the circuit at the start of 2025.
