Italian Open: Another straight-sets win for Swiatek, through to last eight to face Rybakina

Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, won against Croat Donna Vekic, the No 21 seed, 6-3, 6-4 to move into the quarter-finals of the Italian Open at the Foro Italico in Rome on Tuesday.
Swiatek maintains her 100 per cent record against Vekic, although this is the first time they have played each other on clay.
Swiatek, ranked No 1, will face Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 7 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 21-year-old Pole defeated Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (6-0, 6-0) and Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (6-2, 6-0).
Vekic, ranked No 24, beat Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (3-6, 6-3, 6-3) and Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 16 seed (2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
