Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich reached the second round of the Italian Open by defeating Canadian Leylah Fernandez 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-3 at the Foro Italico in Rome on Tuesday evening.
Sasnovich, ranked No 44, will play No 21 seed Donna Vekic next.
