Italian Open: Muchova knocks out home favourite Giorgi to move into fourth round

Czech Karolina Muchova moved into the fourth round of the Italian Open by defeating Italian Camila Giorgi 7-6 (4), 6-2 at the Foro Italico in Rome on Sunday.
Muchova, ranked No 52, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Paula Badosa and Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 32 seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the Rome tournament, the Czech won against Russian lucky loser Kamilla Rakhimova (6-4, 7-5) and edged out Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 18 seed (3-6, 6-3, 7-5).
Giorgi, ranked No 37, beat Dutch qualifier Arantxa Rus (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 15 seed (6-4, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
