Anhelina Kalinina beat Sofia Kenin 6-4, 6-2 on Saturday. She’ll play the winner of the match between Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 14 seed, and American Madison Keys, the No 19 seed, in the next round
Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 30 seed, beat American Sofia Kenin 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the fourth round of the Italian Open at the Foro Italico in Rome on Saturday.
Kalinina, ranked No 47, will face the winner of the match between Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 14 seed, and American Madison Keys, the No 19 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Rome tournament, the Ukrainian won against Russian Anna Blinkova (6-2, 6-2).
Kenin, ranked No 134, edged out Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (6-3, 6-7 (8), 7-5) and defeated Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed (7-6 (4), 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Rome tournament.
It will be a huge disappointment for Kenin not to have backed up her impressive win over Aryna Sabalenka in the previous round.
