Italian Open: Haddad Maia knocks out Linette to reach fourth round in Rome
Beatriz Haddad Maia beat Magda Linette 7-5, 6-4 on Saturday afternoon and will play Colombian qualifier Camila Osorio in the next round
Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 12 seed, defeated this year’s Australian Open semi-finalist Magda Linette, the No 17 seed, 7-5, 6-4 to move into the second round of the Italian Open at the Foro Italico in Rome on Saturday.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 15, will play Colombian qualifier Camila Osorio next.
The Brazilian won against Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse (6-2, 6-3) in the previous round of the Rome tournament.
In the 64 of the Rome tournament, Linette, ranked No 19, won against Czech Linda Noskova (7-6 (4), 6-1).
