Spaniard Paula Badosa edged out German qualifier Anna-Lena Friedsam 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (2) to move into the 64 of the Italian Open at the Foro Italico in Rome on Wednesday evening.
Badosa, ranked No 35, will play No 4 seed Ons Jabeur next.
