Italian Open: Muchova out in fourth round
Paula Badosa won against Karolina Muchova 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-2 on Tuesday afternoon and will play Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 20 seed, in the next round
Spaniard Paula Badosa advanced to the last 8 of the Italian Open by defeating Czech Karolina Muchova 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-2 at the Foro Italico in Rome on Tuesday afternoon.
Badosa, ranked No 35, will face Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 20 seed, next.
The Spaniard won against German qualifier Anna-Lena Friedsam (4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (2)), Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 4 seed (6-1, 6-4) and Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 32 seed (6-4, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Rome tournament, Muchova, ranked No 52, beat Russian lucky loser Kamilla Rakhimova (6-4, 7-5), Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 18 seed (3-6, 6-3, 7-5) and Italian Camila Giorgi (7-6 (4), 6-2).
