Italian Open: Badosa books spot in last 16

Spaniard Paula Badosa advanced to the last 16 of the Italian Open by edging out Russian Diana Shnaider 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 at the Foro Italico in Roma on Saturday.
Badosa, ranked No 126, will face the winner of the match between American Coco Gauff, the No 3 seed, and Romanian lucky loser Jaqueline Cristian next.
The Spaniard won against Russian Mirra Andreeva (6-2, 6-3) and American Emma Navarro, the No 21 seed (1-6, 6-4, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Rome tournament, Shnaider, ranked No 62, beat Belgian Greet Minnen (6-2, 6-3) and No 15 seed Liudmila Samsonova (6-1, 6-3).
