Indian Wells WTA: Bencic knocks out Shnaider

Swiss wildcard Belinda Bencic won against Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 13 seed, 6-4, 6-4 to move into the last 16 of the Indian Wells WTA 1000 in California on Monday.

Bencic, ranked No 58, will play American Coco Gauff, the No 3 seed, next.

In the previous rounds of the Indian Wells tournament, the Swiss beat German Tatjana Maria (6-1, 6-1) and American Amanda Anisimova, the No 17 seed (6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-1).

Shnaider, ranked No 13, defeated American wildcard Alycia Parks (6-1, 6-1) in the previous round of the Indian Wells tournament.
