Indian Wells: Sabalenka advances to fourth round as Tsurenko withdraws, faces Krejcikova next
The world No 2 benefited from the withdrawal of Lesia Tsurenko before their third round match
Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed, advanced to the fourth round of the Indian Wells after Ukrainian qualifier Lesia Tsurenko withdrew before the match on Sunday.
Sabalenka, ranked No 2 in the world, will face Czech Barbora Krejcikova, the No 16 seed. Krejcikova is the only player to beat Sabalenka in 2023, with the Czech winning their quarter-final clash in Dubai last month.
Earlier in the week, the Belarusian won against Russian Evgeniya Rodina (6-2, 6-0).
Tsurenko, ranked No 95, defeated Chinese Lin Zhu (6-4, 6-3) and Croat Donna Vekic, the No 29 seed (2-6, 6-2, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
