Indian Wells: Raducanu shrugs off wrist concerns to win in straight sets, meets Linette next
The former US Open champion defeated Danka Kovinic 6-2, 6-3 on Thursday

The build-up to Emma Raducanu‘s first round match at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells on Thursday ahd been all about her wrist injury and physical fitness.
Raducanu, whose had a torrid time with injuries since last year, dismissed some of those concerns with a convincing straight sets win over Montenegrin Danka Kovinic.
The 2021 US Open champion needed only one hour and 22 minutes to win 6-2, 6-3 and advance to the second round in Indian Wells.
This was the 20-year-old’s first match since exiting the Australian Open in the second round stage and improved her record to 3-2 for the year.
Raducanu, ranked No 77, will face next face No 20 seed Magda Linette for a spot in the third round of the WTA 1000 event.
