Indian Wells: Third seed Pegula into third round, meets Potapova next

American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed, won against Italian Camila Giorgi 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 to move into the third round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells on Friday.

The win improved Pegula’s record over Giorgi to 5-1. Pegula, ranked No 3, will play Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 26 seed, next.

In the previous round of the tournament, Giorgi, ranked No 46, defeated Dutch qualifier Arantxa Rus (6-3, 6-3) while Pegula had a received a first-round bye.
