Indian Wells: Pavlyuchenkova upsets 12th seed Haddad Maia to reach fourth round
The Russian will face Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 31 seed, in the next round
Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the No 22 seed, won against Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 12 seed, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 to move into the last 16 of the BNP Paribas Open at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Sunday.
Pavlyuchenkova, ranked No 24, will play Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 31 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Russian defeated Spanish qualifier Nuria Parrizas Diaz (6-3, 6-1).
Haddad Maia, ranked No 13, won against Slovak qualifier Rebecca Sramkova (7-5, 6-2) in the previous round of the Indian Wells tournament.
