Indian Wells: Parry sees off Blinkova to reach last 16

Frenchwoman Diane Parry defeated Russian Anna Blinkova 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the last 16 of the Indian Wells at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Monday night.

Parry, ranked No 61, will face the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 20 seed, and Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 9 seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, the 21-year-old Frenchman won against Italian Martina Trevisan (7-5, 6-3) and Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 29 seed (7-5, 5-7, 6-2).

Blinkova, ranked No 45, edged out wildcard Karolina Pliskova (6-1, 2-6, 6-4) and won against American Jessica Pegula, the No 5 seed (6-2, 3-6, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Indian Wells tournament.
