Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz reached the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells by beating Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto 6-3, 7-5 on Thursday.
Parrizas Diaz, ranked No 88, will face No 21 seed and fellow Spaniard Paula Badosa next.
