Indian Wells: Muchova upsets Trevisan, sets up all-Czech fourth round against Vondrousova

Czech Karolina Muchova edged out Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 23 seed, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells on Monday.

Muchova, ranked No 76 in the world and making her Indian Wells debut this year, will play countrywoman Marketa Vondrousova, who upset fourth seed Ons Jabeur, in another third round clash on Monday.

In the previous rounds of the Indian Wells tournament, Muchova edged out Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (6-3, 4-6, 6-4) and Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 14 seed (7-6 (1), 6-3).

Trevisan, ranked No 26,had defeated American Madison Brengle (5-7, 6-1, 6-2) earlier in the week.
