Indian Wells: Haddad Maia advances to third round

Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 12 seed, beat Slovak qualifier Rebecca Sramkova 7-5, 6-2 to move into the third round of the Indian Wells at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday night.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 13, will play Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the No 22 seed, next.
Sramkova, ranked No 127, won against Chinese Yafan Wang (6-4, 6-0) in the previous round of the Indian Wells tournament.
