Indian Wells WTA 1000: Kostyuk knocks out Dolehide to reach last 16
Marta Kostyuk beat Caroline Dolehide 6-3, 6-3 and will face the winner of the match between Qinwen Zheng, the No 8 seed, and Lulu Sun next
Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 18 seed, won against American wildcard Caroline Dolehide 6-3, 6-3 to move into the last 16 of the Indian Wells WTA 1000 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
Kostyuk, ranked No 24, will face the winner of the match between Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 8 seed, and New Zealander Lulu Sun next.
Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old Ukrainian beat American wildcard Robin Montgomery (6-1, 6-3).
Dolehide, ranked No 73, won against Russian Kamilla Rakhimova (6-2, 7-6 (3)) and German lucky loser Eva Lys (7-6 (3), 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
