“I’m fit and healthy at the moment” – Kenin hoping to carry momentum into 2024
The 2022 Australian Open champion is playing the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi this week
Former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin is taking part in the World Tennis League this week, hoping that it will help her build some momentum to carry into the 2024 season.
Kenin bounced back in 2023, climbing from outside the top 200 to end the season in the top 35 – still some way off from her days as a Grand Slam winner and top 5 player.
“Hopefully, I can have a solid start to 2024” – Kenin
With her fitness and health back, the 25-year-old American is hoping for a solid start to the new season.
“The main thing is to bring back the feeling for the game, get some point play back in my training and kind of get a feel of things, and then carry that momentum into 2024. I’m just trying to have a good preparation period for the season like I’ve been doing, and hopefully, I can have a solid start to 2024,” Kenin said to Gulf News. “I’m fit and healthy at the moment and this should help with preparation for the year, so I’m looking forward to it.”
Playing the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi, Kenin is looking forward to playing the team exhibition event.
“I think it’s going to be a great atmosphere with this team event format and I think representing our team well will be important, so I’m looking forward to that. Should be a great weekend.”
