Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 4 seed, moved into the semi-finals of the IEB + Argentina Open by edging out Argentinian wildcard Jazmin Ortenzi 7-6 (6), 5-7, 6-4 on Friday evening.
Sherif, ranked No 100, will face Sara Bejlek next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Egyptian beat Ukrainian Valeriya Strakhova (6-4, 4-6, 6-1) and Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic (6-2, 6-2).
Ortenzi, ranked No 273, won against wildcard Luisina Giovannini (6-2, 6-1) and Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 8 seed (6-2, 6-2) in the previous rounds.
