Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 4 seed, moved into the last 8 of the IEB + Argentina Open by defeating Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic 6-2, 6-2 on Thursday evening.
Sherif, ranked No 100, will play the winner of the match between Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 8 seed, and Argentinian wildcard Jazmin Ortenzi next.
In the previous round, the Egyptian won against Ukrainian Valeriya Strakhova (6-4, 4-6, 6-1).
Mladenovic, ranked No 206, won against Brazilian qualifier Carolina M. Alves (7-6 (1), 6-1) during the 32.
