Pole Katarzyna Kawa advanced to the quarter-finals of the IEB + Argentina Open by winning against Hungarian Panna Udvardy 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 on Wednesday evening.
Kawa, ranked No 296, will face the winner of the match between Colombian Emiliana Arango and Latvian Darja Semenistaja, the No 7 seed, next.
The Pole edged out American Varvara Lepchenko, the No 9 seed (2-6, 6-2, 6-4) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Udvardy, ranked No 159, defeated Cypriot Raluka Serban (6-1, 7-6 (4)).
