Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 3 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the IEB + Argentina Open by defeating Spaniard Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales 6-0, 6-4 on Thursday evening.
Carle, ranked No 92, will play the winner of the match between Russian Ekaterina Makarova and Argentinian Julia Riera, the No 6 seed, next.
In the previous round, the Argentinian won against qualifier Victoria Bosio (6-4, 6-2).
Maristany Zuleta De Reales, ranked No 196, won against Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich (6-1, 2-6, 6-0) in the previous round.
