Swiss Simona Waltert, the No 5 seed, advanced to the last 16 of the Iasi Open by winning against Canadian Carol Zhao 6-4, 6-2 at Baza Sportivă Ciric on Monday evening.
Waltert, ranked No 131, will face the winner of the match between Croat Petra Marcinko and qualifier Ipek Oz next.
