Iasi Open: Paquet books spot in semi-finals

Chloe Paquet defeated qualifier Selena Janicijevic 0-6, 6-2, 6-1 to reach the semi-finals of the Iasi Open at the Ciric Sports Base on Wednesday.

Paquet, ranked No 106, will play the winner of the match between Russian Elina Avanesyan, the No 5 seed, and Romanian Jaqueline Cristian, the No 3 seed, next.

Chloe Paquet won against Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 7 seed (6-4, 6-2) and Swiss qualifier Simona Waltert (6-1, 7-5) ahead of her victory.

In the previous rounds of the Iasi tournament, Janicijevic, ranked No 188, beat Bulgarian qualifier Gergana Topalova (6-1, 6-2) and Romanian wildcard Miriam Bulgaru (6-2, 7-6 (6)).
