Iasi Open: Cristian fights back to beat Ruse and reach last eight
Jaqueline Cristian defeated Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-7 (1), 6-2. She’ll play Russian Elina Avanesyan, the No 5 seed, in the next round

No 3 seed Jaqueline Cristian reached the last eight of the Iasi Open by beating wildcard Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-7 (1), 6-2 at the Ciric Sports Base.
Cristian, ranked No 61, will face Russian Elina Avanesyan, the No 5 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, Jaqueline Cristian won against Italian lucky loser Nuria Brancaccio (6-2, 6-4).
Ruse, ranked No 147, defeated Russian Anastasia Tikhonova (6-3, 5-7, 6-1) in the previous round of the Iasi tournament.
