“I know where I stand”: Wozniacki happy with comeback matches despite defeat to Vondrousova
Caroline Wozniacki may be 33 years old but she still has plenty to learn on her tour comeback, she says
Caroline Wozniacki brought her brand of sunshine to Montreal on her WTA tour comeback, beating Kimberly Birrell in her first match for over three years.
And despite falling in the second round of the Omnium Banque Nationale to Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova, the former world No 1 is content with her display so far.
“I think as a competitor you always want to win obviously, but at the end of the day if I look at this tournament, I’m proud of myself. I’m happy that I got to play two matches. I’m happy that I kind of know where I stand, what I can do moving forward,” said the Dane.

“I think it’s a great learning curve, and I’m happy that I know where I am, and I don’t feel like I’m that far away from where I want to be. It’s great to be here and learn a lot along the way.”
Wozniacki: At times I played very well
She was careful to note that she is currently not putting too much pressure on herself, adding: “Obviously it didn’t go the way I’d hoped, but at the end of the day I think there was a lot of positives I can bring with me. I think in periods I played very well, and then in others I made a few too many unforced errors.
“All in all, I’m going in the right direction, and I think it’s to be expected after having not having played a lot of matches in a long time.”
