Hungarian Open: Eighth seed Schmiedlova through to round of 16
The Slovak will face the winner of the match between Greek lucky loser Valentini Grammatikopoulou and German Tamara Korpatsch in the next round
Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the No 8 seed, advanced to the round of 16 of the Hungarian Open by winning against Russian Polina Kudermetova 6-2, 6-0 at Római Tennis Academy in Budapest on Monday.
Schmiedlova, ranked No 83, will play the winner of the match between Greek lucky loser Valentini Grammatikopoulou and German Tamara Korpatsch next.
With a heavily strapped shoulder, Polina Kudermetova falls 2-6, 0-6 to Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in the first round of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
