Chinese Xiyu Wang won against Romanian Ana Bogdan 7-6 (2), 7-6 (10) to reach the last eight of the Hungarian Grand Prix at Római Tennis Academy in Budapest on Thursday. Wang, ranked No 102, will face Serb Aleksandra Krunic next.
Ahead of her victory, the 21-year-old Chinese beat Czech Barbora Krejcikova, the top seed (6-1, 7-6 (1)). Bogdan, ranked No 108, defeated Hungarian Panna Udvardy (6-2, 5-7, 6-0).
