Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 3 seed, moved into the last 4 of the Hungarian Grand Prix when Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko retired at Római Tennis Academy in Budapest on Friday.
Putintseva, ranked No 32, led 6-0, 2-0 when Tsurenko, ranked No 97, pulled out at Római Tennis Academy in Budapest on Friday.
The Kazakh will face Serb Aleksandra Krunic next.
Yulia Putintseva defeated Slovak Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova (6-4, 6-1) and Brazilian lucky loser Laura Pigossi (4-6, 6-1, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the Hungarian Open, the 33-year-old Ukrainian won against Brazilian qualifier Carolina M. Alves (6-4, 6-1) and edged out Russian Kamilla Rakhimova (6-7 (1), 6-4, 7-5).
