Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto reached the last 8 of the Hungarian Grand Prix by edging out Czech Katerina Siniakova 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 at Római Tennis Academy in Budapest on Thursday evening.
Cocciaretto, ranked No 118, will face American qualifier Bernarda Pera next.
The 21-year-old Italian won against Hungarian wildcard Reka-Luca Jani (7-6 (7), 6-2) in the previous round of the Hungarian Open.
In the previous round of the Hungarian Open, Siniakova, ranked No 93, benefited from the abandonment of Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 4 seed (6-3).
