American Bernarda Pera, the No 9 seed, moved into the last 8 of the Hong Kong Open by winning against Chinese qualifier Shi Han 6-0, 6-4 at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay on Wednesday.
Pera, ranked No 81, will face the winner of the match between Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 3 seed, and Australian Kimberly Birrell next.
In the previous round of the Hong Kong tournament, the American defeated Japanese Sara Saito (6-4, 6-4).
Shi, ranked No 245, won against Russian Margarita Gasparyan (6-4, 6-2) in the first round of the Hong Kong tournament.
