American Hailey Baptiste beat Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo 7-5, 6-1 to reach the last 16 of the Hong Kong 125 Open on Tuesday.
Baptiste, ranked No 111, will play the winner of the match between Chinese qualifier YeXin Ma and Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva, the No 4 seed, next.
