Armenian Elina Avanesyan, the No 6 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Hobart International by beating Belgian qualifier Greet Minnen 6-2, 6-2 on Wednesday.
Avanesyan, ranked No 44, will play the winner of the match between American Amanda Anisimova, the No 3 seed, and Hungarian qualifier Anna Bondar next at Hobart’s Domain Tennis Centre
The 22-year-old Armenian won against Chinese qualifier Xiyu Wang (6-3, 7-5) ahead of her win today.
In the previous round of the tournament, Minnen, ranked No 94, won against Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (7-5, 6-3).
