Lauren Davis hits a forehand
American qualifier Lauren Davis defeated Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure 7-6 (1), 6-3 to advance to the last eight of the WTA Hobart International at the Domain Tennis Centre on Wednesday.
Davis, ranked No 84, will play the winner of the match between Chinese lucky loser Xinyu Wang and Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck next.
In the previous round of the Hobart tournament, the American upset the No 4 seed Sloane Stephens (6-2, 6-2) while Bonaventure, ranked No 92, won against Slovenian qualifier Tamara Zidansek (6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-2) in her opener.
