Hamburg Open: Russian Shnaider advances to semi-finals

Russian Diana Shnaider moved into the semi-finals of the Hamburg Open by edging out American Bernarda Pera, the No 3 seed, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 at Am Rothenbaum on Thursday evening.
Shnaider, ranked No 101, will face German wildcard Noma Noha Akugue next.
The 19-year-old Russian won against qualifier Polina Kudermetova (6-0, 4-6, 6-1) and Austrian Julia Grabher, the No 5 seed (6-4, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Hamburg tournament, Pera, ranked No 56, edged out qualifier Zeynep Sonmez (6-2, 1-6, 6-4) and beat Estonian Kaia Kanepi (7-6 (6), 6-1).
