Hamburg Open: Saville advances to semi-finals

Australian qualifier Daria Saville keeps going in Hamburg. The former Top 20 player reached the semi-finals on Thursday after defeating the powerful German wildcard Jule Niemeier (6-3, 6-2) at Am Rothenbaum.
Saville, now ranked No 225 after multiple injuries, will now face the winner of the match between Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 7 seed, and German Eva Lys.
The Australian beat Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 4 seed (6-0, 7-6 (3)), and German Tamara Korpatsch (7-6 (6), 6-2) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Niemeier, ranked No 106, defeated wildcard Ella Seidel (7-6 (5), 1-6, 6-3) and Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 6 seed (5-7, 6-3, 6-1).
