Hamburg Open: Wildcard Noha Akugue books spot in semi-finals on WTA Tour debut

German wildcard Noma Noha Akugue edged out Italian Martina Trevisan 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 to reach the semi-finals of the Hamburg Open at Am Rothenbaum on Thursday.
Noha Akugue, ranked No 207 and in her first ever WTA Tour event, will face the winner of the match between American Bernarda Pera, the No 3 seed, and Russian Diana Shnaider next.
In the previous rounds of the Hamburg tournament, the 19-year-old German won against Brazilian Laura Pigossi (7-5, 6-4) and edged out Australian Storm Hunter (0-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4).
Trevisan, ranked No 76, defeated American Elvina Kalieva (6-1, 6-0) and Colombian Camila Osorio, the No 8 seed (6-1, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
