Hamburg Open: Home hope Eva Lys beats Udvardy to reach last eight
Eva Lys defeated Panna Udvardy 6-4, 6-1. She’ll face Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 7 seed, in the next round

German Eva Lys won against Hungarian Panna Udvardy 6-4, 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the Hamburg Open at Am Rothenbaum.
Lys, ranked No 167, will play Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 7 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 21-year-old German defeated Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the second seed (6-1, 6-1).
Udvardy, ranked No 96, won against Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (3-6, 6-3, 6-1) in the previous round of the Hamburg tournament.
