Krejcikova books spot in Hamburg second round, sets up Frech clash
Barbora Krejcikova defeated Suzan Lamens 6-2, 6-4 on Monday and will face Pole Magdalena Frech in the next round
Czech Barbora Krejcikova, the No 3 seed, won against Dutch lucky loser Suzan Lamens 6-2, 6-4 to move into the second round of the Hamburg Open at Am Rothenbaum on Monday.
The 26-year-old’s form in singles has been patchy in recent months after she missed three months of action at the start of the year due to an arm injury. Since her return, she has lost in the first round of the Hungarian Open to Xiyu Wang, the first round of Eastbourne to Marta Kostyuk, and the first round of Roland-Garros to Diane Parry. She also had a bout of Covid-19 in Paris.
Krejcikova, ranked No 19, will face Pole Magdalena Frech next.
